What happened today

Millie, our cat who suddenly and mysteriously went blind this past year, stumbled upon a pen that had fallen on the floor. She swatted at it, and it rolled a few inches. She crouched down and pounced on it. She swatted it again, harder this time, and it flew across the kitchen. My sweet blind kitty remembered how to play.

A majority of the outside cats on our block have no tails. Are they all related? Is there something sinister behind it? Is it some kind of ploy they use to make themselves extra super cute ( thereby getting more food from strangers )? What is the deal?

My cat is really bored

Mr. American Idle himself - Bilbo St. John - joined us for a tea party today. This means he made the effort to WALK from the back bedroom, allllllll the way to the other bedroom, JUMP UP onto the bed, and WALK across the bed to the designated " cat pillow " - that's about a week's worth of activity in one morning - I'm worried about him.

PS : He weighs just shy of 30 pounds ... which is more than our DOG, and until recently, more than our 3 year old child
