Dear Mr. Tom Jones,

Remember that time in 1997 when you were performing at the MGM Grand in Vegas? And how I was in the audience? And how you sang that song "What's new pussycat"? And how every time after you sang the lyric, "Pussycat pussycat I love you", you would leer at the audience and stick out your tongue and make slurping sounds as if to imitate something that is not fit to be discussed on my sweet and innocent little blog? That totally grossed me out.

Sincerely, Kelley

PS: Also - when that woman came up to the stage to give you her panties - and then asked if she could kiss you - and you said sure - and then you like kissed her. For a really long time. Yeah, I didn't like that either.

I love ...

I have many fun and adventurous memories from my childhood, but they're not all like that. I was often scared as a child, and having an escape through music was what pulled me through many rough times. One of my favorite singers was Mr. Tom T. Hall. His voice was so soothing, and his words were so sweet and comforting. When he sings, " ... and I love you too " , I truly felt like he was saying it just to me.  Thank you Mr. Hall. I love you too.

What I'm loving today

I know he isn't for everybody ... but I love Tom Waits. There are some days when he is the only thing I want to hear, and today is one of those days.

Something else that is most definitely not for everyone ... The Tiger Lillies ... I love them so.

Ghosts of Grey Gardens

I watched the Independent Lens last night about Grey Gardens. It is a behind the scenes look at the making of both the documentary and the musical. Not surprisingly, it was amazing. If you have the opportunity to see it, do.

Worlds colliding ... brain exploding

When I was growing up in the 1980s, music was a huge escape for me. Video games had not yet taken over the world. There was nothing particularly interesting on TV ... except for MTV. Oh, the music videos from that era were amazing. Everything was new and exciting. Two of my favorite groups from that era were Bananarama (girl power!) and Wham! (the exclamation point is part of the name thankyouverymuch ). Well, my world will never be the same after today, because today I learned that Karen Woodward (of Bananarama) and Andrew Ridgley (of Wham!) are married ! Why is this so exciting ? I have no idea - it just is ...

Look at how cute they are ...

Roy & Dale

As a little girl, I watched the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans show with my dad. I loved them so much. I thought Dale was just the most beautiful thing, and Roy ... well, he had a horse that could do tricks, and in my mind, there's nothing cooler than that.

What's Playing

Rachael Yamagata's new album has been constantly playing on my ipod since the day it came out. It's kind of staggering how talented she is.

Obsession du Jour

I downloaded this song for free from iTunes long ago. I liked, but didn't love it. Then I saw Katee and Joshua dance to it on the TV. Now, I listen to it often, and I get chills every time. I think it's the piano.

Need a new song

You know when you can't get a song out of your head, but you don't know all the words to it. You just keep singing the same three lines over, and over, and over, until you feel like you're going to go crazy. Yeah, that's me with this song.
