A giveaway to brighten your day

photo courtesy of The Bunny Bungalow

Today is the first birthday of the Bunny Bungalow! To celebrate, Annie is giving away two sets of these sweet little porcelain bunny stirrers. Head on over to her site and leave a comment to enter, and stick around a while. Annie is a constant source of inspiration for me, and I bet she'll do the same for you.

Bunnies for the bungalow

The little one and I were feeling extra creative recently. We used some leftover burlap from our Thanksgiving tablecloth project, some old yarn, and extra buttons to make these smart little bunnies. Evangeline loooves to sew and is quite good at it!

Once our little bunnies were finished we rushed them over to The Bunny Bungalow. They were welcomed with open arms into their new bunny family, and are now living happily ever after .

FYI

Not too long ago, I added a few new blogs to my "Blogs I love" section, so be sure to check them out.

If you haven't been reading Annie's posts over at The Bunny Bungalow, I highly recommend that you do. Some of her most recent posts have just blown me away. So moving. Written so beautifully and thoughtfully that, at times, I get choked up reading them. Her words are so full of heart and wisdom. They're still floating around in my head days after reading them.

Also - if you need an apartment in Austin, AT has a cute one for you. Check it out on her blog, Keeping Austin Weird.

I need another bedroom

I found these beds over at Installations Antiques the other day, and have not been able to stop thinking about them. That child's bed just might be the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

Child's bed, Biedermeir, German - 1840

French bed, Cast iron, 1840

While on their website, I also spotted the sweetest little child's desk. A little Dutch school desk from the 1920s ... well, someone else spotted it too ... Annie from The Bunny Bungalow saw it, loved it, and has given it a wonderful new home. You can see it and read her lovely post about it on her blog, right here.

Seven things

This post was inspired by my new friend Annie over at The Bunny Bungalow. Her blog is so inspiring and lovely, if you haven't been there yet, you should go ! One of her recent posts said :
"Enjoy your nests this weekend! Look around you and find five things you love living with."

So I did ! I couldn't stop at 5 ... which is a good thing I suppose ... Many of the things we have in our house are family hand-me-downs, and they all have so many memories in them. Here are the first 7 I came upon ...

My maternal grandmother painted this when she was 18 years old . It sits on our kitchen counter . I must look at it a hundred times a week, and each time I do, I note her signature and the date . Eura Fisher 5-30-29 . I love that she was such a young thing ... From middle of nowhere Louisiana, where life surely wasn't easy , but there she was, painting away ... and dancing too ... Munny loved to dance ...

These are my husband's guitars ( and banjo ) . They remind me that he is such a renaissance man . He is a musician , an architectural historian , and in his current incarnation , an attorney .

This was my grandmother's mirror . It sat on the vanity in her bedroom . As a little girl, I thought it was the fanciest thing I had ever seen .

Mom loved trees . My aunt Marty chose this tree just for her , and had an artist paint it . Such a sweet gesture, and such a beautiful piece of art that we'll have forever.

My daughter's artwork . I can't get enough of it !

My mom brought these home from a trip to China in the 1970s . They are so unique and beautiful - just like she was . I get complements each time I wear one . Always makes me smile .

This was always hanging somewhere, wherever we were living . It's a painting that I can stare at for hours, just daydreaming about being there in the bluebonnets .

So there you have it - some of my favorite things . Go find yours ...
