Never too early
It may still only be August, but guess who already has their tickets to The Nutcracker Ballet ! My mother took me to see it every single year, and I can't wait to begin that tradition with my own daughter. The little one sat through almost an hour of a piano concert that we happened upon a few weeks ago ... so, I think she'll do great at the fancy ballet.
I couldn't find any video of The Houston Ballet doing The Nutcracker, but here is a bit of Onegin, which they begin showing in a few days. Enjoy !

My husband and I drove by this house on a recent trip home from Baskin-Robbins. Don't even get me started on their Jamoca ice cream ( an obsession for another jour ). We both remarked on how much we loved the front yard ... well, not even a week later Cote De Texas featured it along with interior photos. How serendipitous ! I have a "thing" for foyers, and this one has been haunting my daydreams for weeks. Have a look...

The Butterfly Whisperer
I love, love, love trees ... and this just might be my favorite one of all. We have been growing this little guy for five years. He started out as a teeny tiny plant clipping, which we took from the yard of the house we rented as newlyweds. Until recently, I always referred to it as " the Byrne Street tree ", but now it has a new name. It has become " the butterfly nursery "! I thought something was wrong with our tree when I began noticing missing leaves ... but upon further inspection, I saw something incredible ...
Aren't they amazing ? Swallowtail butterflies ... they are HUGE ... as in almost a 5 inch wingspan. Every other week or so, one of my butterfly children comes by to say hello. Always unexpectedly, and always taking my breath away. I feel so lucky to get to witness their journey. Happiness .Butterfly images via Dr Moto Photo on Flickr

There is a God and here is the proof
After 3 years of having the same infectious songs in my head from the first Little Mermaid movie ... I can now have NEW infectious mermaid songs in my head ! Yay !!
PS : I just got SHHHHHHed by my little girl for typing too loudly during the movie .

She is my absolute ideal of beauty ... and If I could choose to come back to Earth as anyone else, I just might choose her . She's insanely talented and poetic . I totally love her .
Kitchen Envy etc ...
After stumbling upon this picture ... I've decided ... My life won't be worth living until I have a kitchen this cute with a ladder in it ... And I am not exaggerating .
P.S. : I'm looking into support groups for people who use * ... * too much ... like that ... get the idea ... Anyhoo ... I googled it and apparently there's nary a soul who can help me with that ... sorry . Oh, and am also currently googling for groups to help those who like to write some really really long run-on-sentences, use commas incorrectly, and have no need for proper grammar . That is all .

We are looking for a new pendant light fixture to go over our kitchen sink . My husband is pretty much game for whatever hair-brained ideas I come up with , but I think he might draw the line at the Tupp-A-Lamp . Made from genuine vintage tupperware .

I need to contain myself - because I'm flipping out over Jennifer Morris' jewelry . Am swooning. Can you believe she makes these beads by hand . No molds or mass production . Just her in her studio, molding and carving on her own . THAT is an artist !
