Making Memories

We took Evangeline to her first Nutcracker ballet on Saturday. She felt quite fancy in the dress her Granny & Granddad gave her. It was a perfect afternoon. We had seats in the founder's boxes, and they were amazing ! We shared our box with another mom and her three year old little girl. She & our little one had lots of fun together during the down times. Here's how it went :

We had a quick run up and down the driveway to burn off all of that excess energy.

Beautiful downtown Houston .

The Wortham Center

Anticipation !

I remember that ferris wheel !

The view from our box was fabulous

We loved the Houston Ballet Orchestra

Evangeline & her new friend Kennedy, waiting to meet the ballerinas!

Of course, when we did meet the ballerinas, Evangeline froze up & this is as close as she would get! Here she is meeting Clara (who was the best Clara I've ever seen).

The Snow Queen

It was a magical time that we hope to recreate every year. Our new family tradition.

What I'm watching

Iconoclasts on the Sundance channel is must see TV for me. Two notable people, with a common thread, but most often from completely diverse worlds, interviewing each other. Actually, it's less "interview", and more of them stepping into each others lives while we watch. There are always fabulous combinations of people like, Jeff Koons and Tom Ford, Christiane Amanpour and Rene Zellweger, Mario Batali and Michael Stipe ... I could go on and on ... My favorite episode by far. The one I have "save until I delete"ed on my Tivo, is Mikhail Baryshnikov & Alice Waters. I love them both.

Never too early

It may still only be August, but guess who already has their tickets to The Nutcracker Ballet ! My mother took me to see it every single year, and I can't wait to begin that tradition with my own daughter. The little one sat through almost an hour of a piano concert that we happened upon a few weeks ago ... so, I think she'll do great at the fancy ballet.

I couldn't find any video of The Houston Ballet doing The Nutcracker, but here is a bit of Onegin, which they begin showing in a few days. Enjoy !

So You Think You Can Dance

I LOVE that show . I LIVE for that show . I CRY for that show . Tears . Lots of tears . Too many tears . Not normal . Probably should see someone about it . Sigh . It's over . Joshua won . I cried more than he did . Not surprising .

Here's some more pretty stuff from Katee & Joshua

Obsession du jour

If this doesn't move you , I just don't think we can be friends .
